Acupuncture/Chinese Medicine

What is MTC?

Chinese medicine, ancestral medicine originating in ancient China, has endured and evolved throughout history. During the second half of s. XX, this therapy was introduced in the western countries and has obtained a great acceptance among the users and, contrary to other medical methods, not aggressive and usually effective with rapid results. MTC also is oftentimes used to prevent diseases.ç

Chinese medicine is a holistic medicine because it understands that there are no diseases, but sick people. It takes into account not only what happens in the affected organ, but also what happens in the whole organism; the way of manifesting itself, how it responds to external influences and environmental stimuli.

The basic pillars of Chinese medicine are the Theory of Yin and Yang and the Theory of the Five Elements. The principles and premises of Chinese medicine are drawn directly from traditional Taoist philosophy, the oldest and most unique school of thought in China. The main premise of Chinese medicinal theory is that every form of life in the universe is animated thanks to a vital energy called “Qi.” The «Qi», fundamental substance of the organism and the universe, permeates and penetrates the entire cosmos. Digestion, for example, extracts “Qi” from food and drink and transports it throughout the body, breathing extracts “Qi” from the air in the lungs. When these two forms of “Qi” meet in the blood, the “Qi” circulates as vital energy through the meridians or energy channels.

ACUPUNCTURE PAIN TREATMENT

We have all suffered pain at some point in our life. Pain is an unpleasant experience. It can appear due to accidents or injuries, arthritis, rheumatism, a huge variety of physical and even psycho-emotional problems. It can affect the head, any of the limbs or internal organs, causing different types of pain, such as migraine, sore throat, shoulder pain, joint pain, abdominal pain, or back pain, etc. to mention some of the most frequent.

Traditional Chinese Medicine (MTC) uses its different techniques; acupuncture, Moxibustion, massage, medicinal plants, exercises (Qi Gong) that focuse on eliminating pain.

Acupuncture can play an important role in eliminating or reducing pain, it can also prevent and reduce recovery time when it is a chronic problem. It is also one of the most common reasons that people want treatment, both medical and acupuncture.

Research has shown that acupuncture causes the body to produce natural steroids and promote the production of natural endorphins. Steroids decrease inflammation, while endorphins relieve pain. Both substances can play an integral role in breaking the pain cycle.
