Tennis elbow epicondylitis
Acupuncture works by invigorating the flow of Qi and Blood throughout the area to relieve pain, reduce inflammation, and promote the body’s healing ability. With the associated techniques of electroacupuncture and cupping, the best results can often be achieved.
The epicondyle is the area where the forearm muscles attach to the lateral elbow bone. Overuse of these muscles, as occurs in tennis, causes forced extension or rotation of the wrist or hand. There are professions that, due to the repetition of a specific gesture, are more likely to suffer from it, such as painters, mechanics, workers or people who spend hours in front of the computer using the mouse.
When these muscles are used over and over again, small micro injuries occur in the tendon. Over time this leads to irritation and pain in the area. Typically, its main causes are poor posture, soft tissue tension due to an incorrectly or abnormally positioned joint or bone, other diseases or conditions, and infections.
According to Chinese Medicine, tennis elbow or epicondylitis is caused by a lack of Qi and Blood, Dampness, Cold and Wind that cause poor blood circulation that does not nourish the muscle as it should, causing it to weaken and harden.
